How to reduce stress: during the holidays

How to reduce stress

According to the American Psychological Association, 38% of people surveyed said their stress increased during the holiday season, which can lead to physical illness, depression, anxiety, and substance misuse. The reasons given include lack of time, financial pressure, gift-giving, and family gatherings.

This time of year I often think of my previous love for Yankee candles as I loved the ambience it offered. Grabbing up the latest seasonal scent was one of my favorite past times.

Six years ago that changed when I learned about the damage that fragrance has on our body. It goes WAY beyond the headaches.

Fragrance can actually create more stress, disrupt hormones and cause inflammation in the body leading to respiratory issues, disease, and cancer – and I don’t have to tell you how life changing that can be.

If you are like me and want to learn more, check out this article to learn the types of stress fragrance causes to our health.

I got started with essential oils to help with immune support – but soon realized I wanted to use essential oils for EVERYTHING, including replacing candles AND reduce stress during our cancer journey.

Not ONLY did I get a great smell I soon learned how healing smells can be through Aromatherapy, especially during stressful times in life.

check out what I found to reduce stress

The first blend that had me head over heels »» Balance and Serenity which provides a calming and grounding aroma.

Then I fell in love with »» Wild Orange and Peppermint as I noticed the uplifting and energizing smells.

Now I almost exclusively use »» Adaptiv and Motivate that help reduce stress and offer encouragement every time I apply.

NOW when the holidays approach, I dig into the archives and find some that are a bit more festive AND love to share them to help reduce stress AND have some of those seasonal scents I so LOVE!
