Using my Cancer Experience as a Guide for Others

My Cancer Experience

One Small Word Can Change Your Whole World:

Cancer

A word I wished didn’t fall into my lap! Processing it suddenly took over and my life was consumed with the hospital, with all the appointments, pamphlets, tests and prescriptions. My sense of being had changed!

In that moment I wished for it to go away or at least someone who had been through it could help make sense of it all. Someone who can relate to what I was going through, to offer encouragement and provide a sense of hope and encouragement.

The overwhelm takes over, it seems like your life and schedule have been made for you. You don’t have the mental capacity to process all the things and autopilot is the thing keeping you standing some days. Your sense of control has been abruptly taken away.

As a former healthcare worker, caregiver for my husband during his cancer journey and myself a cancer survivor, I am what most people are looking for. I help women affected by cancer break through the fear and overwhelm to find hope, becoming calmer and more relaxed through the process.

My Personal Experiences are Gifts to Others.

I’m using my personal cancer experiences as gifts to help others.

I have this unique background where I can relate to a cancer experience from every perspective (patient, caring for a loved one, caregiver to hundreds of patients). I can guide you emotionally, meeting you where you’re at in your journey along the complex and layered emotions and feelings along the way!

Rebirth

I call myself a "cancer doula," comparing the traditional term used for childbirth to the rebirth following cancer. A cancer experience for the patient and family is a transformation journey. You come out the other side a different version of yourself.

You don't have to go through your cancer experience alone. We often feel like we have to do this by ourselves, right? What if you embraced all the stuff - hey, it's real! What if you embraced the emotions, embraced how hard it is, because it is hard...why try to cover that up? We sometimes feel, or have been conditioned to ‘be strong’ (for ourself or our family). Honestly, the sooner you can deal with it, feel it, and work through the emotional impact...the faster you can heal.

Guiding Others using My Cancer Experience

I work with women touched by cancer, help keep their world turning with a sense of control and calm. I can help you sleep at night knowing you aren’t alone, I will offer compassion from a place of grace, I know what you are going through. I’ve been there!

Life and living don’t have to stop when you hear the word cancer. I help women affected by cancer break through the fear and overwhelm to find hope, become calmer and feel a sense of control through the process.
